Terms of Service
Plain language. No bloated legalese. You own your compute, we keep it running.
1. Who we are
BlackRoad OS, Inc. is a Delaware C-Corporation. These terms govern your use of blackroad.io, the BlackRoad API, CLI tools, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.
2. Sovereign compute
BlackRoad runs on real hardware — Raspberry Pi nodes, Hailo-8 accelerators, NVMe storage, WireGuard-encrypted mesh networking. This is the core promise:
- Your data stays yours. Prompts, responses, and files processed through the Platform are not stored, logged, or used for training unless you explicitly opt in.
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to AI companies, not to anyone. Period.
- No third-party data brokers. Analytics are privacy-first and self-hosted.
3. Your account
You're responsible for your account credentials. Use a strong password. Don't share your API keys. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at security@blackroad.io.
One account per person. Don't create accounts for bots or scrapers without prior approval.
4. API usage
The BlackRoad API at api.blackroad.io is OpenAI-compatible. Usage is subject to:
- Rate limits. Starter plan: 60 requests/minute, 1,000 requests/day. Paid tiers get higher limits.
- Fair use. Don't hammer the API with synthetic load tests, recursive loops, or intentional abuse. If your usage degrades the service for others, we'll throttle or suspend your key.
- No reselling. You can build products on top of the API, but you can't resell raw API access without a commercial agreement.
5. Acceptable use
Use the Platform for legitimate purposes. Don't use it to:
- Generate content that exploits minors, promotes violence, or violates applicable law.
- Attack, probe, or attempt to compromise the infrastructure.
- Distribute malware, spam, or phishing content through the Platform.
- Impersonate BlackRoad OS, its agents, or its team members.
- Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms.
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice when possible.
6. Third-party components
BlackRoad OS incorporates third-party software. Each component retains its original license (MIT, Apache 2.0, GPL, etc.). Our proprietary code and brand assets are copyright BlackRoad OS, Inc. These third-party licenses don't extend to our proprietary platform, brand, or infrastructure.
7. Availability
We run on physical hardware with redundancy built in, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. The fleet may go down for maintenance, power events, or hardware failures. We'll communicate outages when we can.
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We're building in public and things will break.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BlackRoad OS, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here and communicated through the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
